Consider the fact that it took a very evil man to bring together what would become the world’s two superpowers for the second half of the 20th century. Many historians have stated that only Hitler could have brought the United States and the USSR together .   My view is that the main model that 20th-century socialists and communists had in mind was the state-directed war economies of the first world war, which weren't particularly socialist but did.

The book is well-written and very thought-provoking. It needs to be widely read and acted on, but – as one other reviewer pointed out, the people who most need to read this book, probably won’t.
